Understanding the Nature of Photography and Our Collaborative Process
It’s important to preface this guarantee by acknowledging the unique nature of professional photography services. Unlike a tangible product that can be returned if defective, photography involves artistic interpretation, the capture of live moments, and the collaboration between photographer and client. Our process is designed to minimize potential dissatisfaction from the outset:
- Thorough Consultation and Goal Setting: Every project begins with an in-depth discussion to understand your specific needs, desired outcomes, brand aesthetic, and any particular challenges or sensitivities. For headshots, we discuss desired expressions and usage. For company branding, we define the message and key elements to capture. For events, we outline critical moments and overall ambiance. This initial phase is crucial for aligning our creative vision with your expectations.
- Clear Scope of Work and Agreement: Following the consultation, we provide a detailed proposal and contract that clearly outlines the services to be provided, the number of images, usage rights, deliverables, timelines, and payment terms. This transparency ensures we are all on the same page before any work commences.
- Artistic Style and Portfolio Alignment: By engaging Angell Photography, you are entrusting us with your visual representation, acknowledging our distinct artistic style as showcased in our portfolio. While we are highly adaptable to your specific needs, the final aesthetic of the images will inherently reflect our professional photographic approach, including lighting, composition, and post-processing style. We encourage clients to thoroughly review our past work to ensure alignment with their vision prior to booking.
- Active Client Participation (Where Applicable): For certain sessions, such as headshots or detailed product shoots, clients may have the opportunity for real-time review or selection of images during or shortly after the session. For larger projects, we may present proofs for initial feedback. Your active participation during these stages is invaluable in guiding the process towards your satisfaction.
- Professional Post-Production: All delivered images undergo professional post-production, including color correction, exposure adjustment, and natural retouching. We maintain a consistent standard of excellence in our editing to enhance the photographs while preserving authenticity.

Should you genuinely be dissatisfied with the final photographic deliverables from Angell Photography, we commit to the following structured resolution process, designed to address your concerns fairly and efficiently, without encouraging unreasonable demands or abuse of the system:
Conditions for Invoking the Guarantee:
This guarantee applies if, despite our collaborative efforts and adherence to the agreed-upon scope of work, you are genuinely dissatisfied with the technical quality (e.g., focus, exposure, color accuracy not meeting professional standards as reasonably expected) or the fundamental adherence to the agreed-upon creative brief (e.g., specific shots or elements promised in the contract are demonstrably missing or incorrectly executed) of the delivered images.
This guarantee does not cover:
- Subjective Aesthetic Preferences: Dissatisfaction based solely on personal taste regarding artistic style, posing choices, or expressions that were within the agreed-upon creative direction and consistent with our portfolio (e.g., "I just don't like how I look," or "I changed my mind about the background color I approved"). We are happy to discuss these preferences during the planning phase, but artistic dissatisfaction after delivery is generally not covered.
- Issues Arising from Client Non-Cooperation: Problems resulting from the client's failure to adhere to our pre-shoot guidance (e.g., wardrobe advice, timely arrival, providing necessary access), or failure to communicate specific requests or feedback during applicable review stages.
- Changes in Vision After Shoot Completion: Any significant alterations to the original creative brief or stylistic preferences communicated only after the session has concluded or images have been delivered.
- Force Majeure Events: Circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as acts of God, natural disasters, equipment failure outside of maintenance, or unforeseen venue restrictions that fundamentally altered the ability to capture the agreed-upon images. In such rare cases, a separate re-shoot or partial refund agreement may be considered.
- Alterations by Third Parties: Issues arising from the client or a third party making unauthorized edits, alterations, or printing of the images outside of our recommendations, which may affect perceived quality.
The Resolution Process:
If you find yourself genuinely dissatisfied, we request that you follow these steps:
- Notify Us Promptly: You must notify Angell Photography in writing (email preferred) within seven (7) calendar days of receiving your final image gallery or digital download link. Your notification should clearly detail the specific reasons for your dissatisfaction and how the deliverables demonstrably fall short of the agreed-upon scope or professional technical standards.
- Scheduled Review & Discussion: Upon receiving your notification, we will schedule a call or meeting within three (3) business days to thoroughly discuss your concerns. This conversation is crucial for us to understand the precise nature of the issue and for you to articulate your perspective. We will review the delivered images together against the original brief and our internal quality standards.
- Proposed Resolution Options: Based on our discussion and assessment, Angell Photography will propose one or more of the following resolution options, at our sole discretion, aiming for a fair and equitable outcome:
- Revisions/Re-editing: For minor issues that can be addressed through post-production (e.g., slight color adjustments, additional basic retouching beyond the initially provided scope, or minor cropping adjustments), we will perform these revisions to the best of our ability within a reasonable timeframe (typically 3-5 business days). This may be subject to a mutually agreed-upon limit on revision rounds.
- Partial Re-shoot: In cases where a critical element was missed or a significant technical issue occurred on our part that cannot be resolved through editing, and it is feasible to do so, we may offer a partial re-shoot of specific images or elements necessary to fulfill the original brief. This will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time, typically within two (2) weeks of the agreement, and will be limited to addressing the identified deficiencies.
- Partial Credit/Refund: If a re-shoot or revisions are not feasible, or if despite our best efforts the core issue remains, we may offer a partial credit towards future services or a partial refund of the specific portion of the service that was deemed deficient. The amount of any credit or refund will be determined on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the extent of the dissatisfaction and the work already performed. Full refunds are generally reserved for situations where no viable deliverable was provided that met even minimum professional standards and the original brief, and no alternative resolution is possible or desired.
- Cancellation of Remaining Balance: For projects with staged payments, if the dissatisfaction pertains to a specific stage of work that cannot be rectified, we may agree to waive the remaining balance for that portion of the project.
