Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happens after I book online?

    You'll be contacted to set up a time to talk, either on the phone or virtually online.  During that conversation, you'll discuss the types of shots you're looking for, how you plan on using the images, and deliverables that will suit your needs so the session will be most productive.
    You'll also discuss clothing and grooming preparation for your session and answer any other questions you may have.

  • What if what I want can't be booked online?

    No problem.  Use the contact form to get in touch with Troy and he'll help you from there.

  • How many looks or wardrobe changes are allowed?

    Except for Express Headshot Sessions, there is no limit to the number of looks, wardrobes or backgrounds you can have.  It's more a matter of what can reasonably be accomplished during your session.

  • How should I prepare for my session?

    During your initial discussion with Troy, he'll provide you with that information.  He'll also email you the information along with recommendations and a preparation checklist so you won't have to try and remember everything.

  • What should I wear for my session?

  • When should I arrive for my session?

    Plan to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to your session time.

  • What happens at the session?

    Troy will take a variety of shots based on the previous discussion of your needs.  Troy will coach you to get very flattering and authentic expressions and make you look your very best.  You'll review the images together to make sure you're getting the results you wanted and make adjustments as needed.  At the end, you'll review the final images together and make your final selections for retouching.

  • How long will my session last?

    It depends on the session you selected.  Express Headshot Sessions are scheduled for 15 minutes.  Most other sessions are scheduled for two hours, but the two hours is flexible and it usually doesn't take the full two hours.  Longer sessions can be scheduled if needed.

  • What happens after the session?

    Your selected images will be professionally retouched.  Typical retouching includes items such as color correction, blemishes, skin, eyes and teeth.  You'll receive your retouched images via a private online gallery where you can download digital copies, as well as, order a variety of competitively priced prints.

  • When will I get my images?

    It depends on the session you selected.  Express Headshot Sessions have a 24 hour turnaround.  Individual Headshot Sessions have a 2 business day turnaround.  Sessions with multiple people vary depending on the number of people photographed.

  • Why do you offer a satisfaction guarantee?

    Because Troy is truly committed to you having a positive experience and receiving top quality services and products.  If for any reason you're not satisfied, Troy wants to be able to remedy it.  Troy is confident in his knowledge, skills and abilities that he can offer a satisfaction guarantee.  How many other photographers are willing to do this for you?

  • Can you match headshots done previously?

    Yes.  Some organizations have specific requirements for headshots to match their particular look or branding.  Your organization may have worked with another photographer in the past but is now looking to work with a new headshot provider.  Troy is able to match the previous images and can provide any file type, format, or crop that is needed to maintain the consistency of your organization's headshots.  All you need to do is supply some sample images and Troy can take care of the rest.

  • I'm an actor needing headshots. Should I bring props?

    It depends on the type of actor you are.  Recently, more and more auditions are "online submission only", which meas the headshot, and more importantly, who you portray in it, can be the difference between being called in for the audiion or not.  You'll need to rconsider the roles you get cast or audition for, and choose props that might portray that type of charcter.

  • Do you shoot groups or teams of people?

    Yes.  If your organization needs headshots for small groups or teams, that can be done either in studio or on location.  Group and team headshot sessions done on the same day receive a discounted session fee for each additional person photographed, whether in studio or on location.

  • My organization regularly hires new employees who need headshots. Can you help with that?

    Yes.  Regularly hiring new employees creates a lot of work on your part.  Let Troy lighten your workload and handle your new hire headshot appointments with online scheduling.

  • My organization needs a group photo of everyone together but we can't get everyone together for a group photo. Can you help with that?

    Yes.  Sometimes, logistics and scheduling can be difficult, if not impossilbe, to coordinate.  Troy can photograph those who can get together as a group and photograph those who cannot seperately.  Troy can then composite everyone together into a single, finished image.

  • What about large events, conferences or trade shows, can you handle that?

    Absolutely!  Volume headshots are handled differently than other sessions.  With these, each person receives brief posing and expression coaching, on-site registration, image review, image selection, and instant delivery of images via email or text.  As a host or sponsor, you have the ability for branding, host or sponsorship messaging, information collection, lead list generation, and consistent headshots for everyone.  Contact Troy for more information.
